This program is an INNER-WORK program and is not focused on ‘how to do this work with clients. This experience is intended to support YOU in showing up differently in all areas of your life, from the inside out, which will inevitably impact how you find inspiration in your work. Our attention in sessions will be on your personal experience as a way to integrate more profound wisdom in your body and psyche.

“From the living fountain of instinct flows everything that is creative; hence the unconscious is not merely conditioned by history, but is the very source of the creative impulse.” -C.G.Jung

We will approach the body through somatic symbolism, embodied spiritual and depth psychology based reflections from our intentional journeys with expressive and authentic movement, music, film, prose, poetry and visual art to expand our capacity to connect with other souls via the soma and access the strength of our human heart in our work with others. Each participant will be encouraged to source these somatic openings and inspiration through their places of personal meaning. This work will also support our capacity to stay curious, access wonder, and remain hopeful and inspired in turbulent times.

Key Jungian Somatics concepts we will explore include:

  • The intersection of neurobiology and the creative process

  • Trauma as a spiritual injury

  • The relationship between anxiety and creativity

  • The process of embodied active imagination to explore unconscious material via the soma

  • Numinosity and faith on a neurobiological level

  • The transcendent function through a somatic container

PRE-COURSE READING:
Pre-course reading, including a 400-page book on the introduction to Jungian theory, will be required in addition to other course study that will be sent to you after registration. If you don’t have capacity for pre-course study, we invite you to explore this training at a point in the future when you have the capacity. Small exploration/study groups will be organized for those wanting to interact with other participants through the training.

SOCIAL MEDIA USE DURING TRAINING PERIOD:
During this 3-week training, participants will be encouraged to bring embodied awareness to social media habits and reduce use or avoid engagement altogether to allow for more inward focus.

WHO THIS IS FOR:
For participants who are interested in a program focused on deep inner work versus an ‘outer work’ focus, AKA a predetermined ‘system of what to do with clients, who trust that internal development and integration of depth-based work will intuitively impact work with clients, have engaged in extensive personal healing and therapeutic work, are well resourced emotionally and psychologically to be able to stay steady exploring depths in their psyche and soma and be in connected and compassionate relationship with other participants. In terms of occupation or professional practice, this training is intended for people who want to source a deeper connection with creativity and embodied faith in their lives and their bodies and with others in their work: coaches, therapists, leaders, teachers, activists, performers, artists, writers who are interested in finding an embodied avenue into creativity and spirituality.

While this program is not designed to be a primarily trauma-oriented program, we will occasionally discuss the impact of trauma through an embodied depth psychology and spiritual injury lens. An integrated and foundational understanding of the autonomic nervous system and neurobiology is required so that we can move beyond nervous system discourse and theory to focus on deeper explorations together.

PREREQUISITES:
Participants must have completed training in the neurobiology of trauma and have a sound understanding of nervous system theory. When applying, please list courses or training that demonstrate you have met this requirement.

Due to the limited class size, scholarships and sliding scale are not available for this program. Jane has a variety of other webinars or workshops designed to be financially accessible.
